Giti Tire sponsored Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo GT3 at the 24 Hours Nürburgring Race for the first time.
In its first year of participation in the legendary 24 Hours Nürburgring Race, the Giti Tire sponsored Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo GT3 achieved excellent results, conquering the demanding track and placing an impressive 2nd place in the SP8 category. Despite a loss of 20 minutes due to a gearbox breakdown, Giti tires were able to carry the Lamborghini through difficult track and weather conditions in this race that that truly pushes the limit of man, vehicle, and tires. To complete this grueling 24 hours race of nearly 3,900km alone is a challenge, and to place so high among top global competition is a big milestone in Giti Tire’s continued motorsports success.
The success of the 24 Hours Nürburgring Race was a result of the great partnership of Giti Tire and Dörr Motorsports, that was announced in November of last year. “We had never expected a pole position but we are extremely happy about this successful kick-off,” commented Robin Dörr, team manager of Dörr Motorsport. Tobias Stöckmann, motorsport director Europe at Giti Tire, added, “It is clear to us that our focus lays on the transfer of technology from the racetrack to the street, and I am very proud that we were able to show the performance of our tires here at the Nürburgring. We have collected lots of experience as well as data during the race, which will now be used for further development to ensure the continuously increasing performance and safety of our tires.”
The Nürburgring racing track was established in 1927, and now among the largest and most famous racing venues in the world. Known as the “Green Hell”, the track is 26km, with 177 turns and a vertical drop of 300 meters. Its difficulty level and varied road and weather conditions make it an ideal baseline for vehicle and tire assessment. The Nürburgring 24 Hours endurance race draws more than 200,000 spectators from around the world, and is among the most famous races of its type globally.
While this race has been completed, it long journey is still just the beginning for Giti Tire. Through the valuable experience and data collected through this extraordinary race, Giti will be able to further tune its tires and performance, both for future races as well as for everyday tires for consumers. As the “ultimate proving ground”, nothing else can prepare tires in such challenging circumstances of speed, endurance, and competition.
