One of Giti’s priorities attaches great importance to the occupational health and safety of employees, and based on considerations of the efficiency of factory operation, implemented further improved health and safety management techniques. All factories utilize OHSAS18001 occupational health and safety management requirements and safety production standardization certification to make safety the top priority of its facilities.

Giti Tires implements a culture of health and safety in the working environment. These practices help to assist employees in improving their physical and mental health, and minimising the risks of exposure to hazards. Giti’s Health Department carries out preventive, promotive, curative and rehabilitative efforts. Furthermore, Giti incorporated its “Giti Tire Environmental Health and Safety Management Guidelines” into putting forward an internal audit of environment, health, and safety to improve the overall performance of the group's related activities.

Improve Air Quality

The Giti plant in Anhui province invested RMB 340,000 (USD 55,000) to install 52 negative pressure ventilation devices in the workshop, which improved the air quality in the workshop and reduced occupational health risks.

Improve Lighting Conditions

The Giti plant in Fujian province invested a total of RMB 1.3 million (USD 212,000) successively for improving lighting conditions in storage areas, which enhanced the working conditions of the operating environment.

Cooling Usage of High-Temperature Posts

The Giti plant in Fujian province invested a total of about RMB 1.5 million (USD 244,000) for installing water-cooled air conditioning and ventilation equipment in machine-operating posts of preparation and curing workshops, which not only improved the air quality in the workshop, but also reduced the temperature of on-site high temperature posts.

Sharing Best Practices & Experiences

Plants summarized and shared 695 EHS best practices, including innovative EHS management methods, activities and techniques. Implementing more stringent and more comprehensive EHS standards would help every Giti plant learn and draw on experience from each other and better enhance the safety management level.

Improving Health and Wellness of Employees and their Global Communities

The company has also developed and built an internal sharing website for environmental health and safety information, which is also conducive to better information communication, data collection, and experience-sharing among employees. Giti also established a reward mechanism for the group's environmental health and safety. The annual environmental health and safety leading factories, teams, and individuals earn awards that have been set up to encourage employees to take an active part in the construction of safety culture. At the same time, Giti Tire holds best practices of communication and sharing every quarter, so that factories can learn from each to improve all levels of environmental health and safety management.
