Giti’s Milestones Over the Decades Showcase its Road to Success

Headquartered in Singapore, Giti Tire has grown to be one of the leading tire companies globally in terms of size, revenue, and recognition. Here we will explore some key developments and milestones of the company over the decades. In addition, you can explore a more thorough interactive road of Giti Tire over the years on Giti’s Milestones page.

Giti’s roots go back to 1951 producing bicycle tires and inner tubes in Indonesia. Over the years, as PT Gajah Tunggal, the company grew successfully and expanded to produce motorcycle, passenger car, and commercial truck and bus tires.

In 1993, the name ‘Giti’ was established, and the company built a large factory complex in Anhui, China. From there, the company experienced accelerated growth, gaining factory quality and environmental certifications and expanding distribution further around the world. Giti also became engaged with top OEM partners, including General Motors and many others.

The growth continued as Giti further expanded globally. This included the establishment of Giti Tire USA in 2002 and a range of European offices starting in 2009. Through today, Giti has 12 offices in Asia, the Americas, Europe, and the Middle East. The global reach of Giti Tire has also grown with its new US production center opened in 2017, as well as major renovations and additions to its Indonesia production facility, and the creation of five integrated R&D centers around the world.

In addition to factory and distribution growth, Giti Tire has focused more efforts in top motorsports during the past decade. In 2013, Giti won its first major international racing event, with Nobuhiro ‘Monster’ Tajima taking first place in the Pike’s Peak USA challenge on GitiCompete GTR1 tires. This has been followed by a range of motorsports successes in recent years, from sponsorship of major series such as Formula 3 Asia to having great success in a variety of global competitions, such Malaysia 12 Hours Endurance Race, 24 Hours Nurburgring, and VLN Endurance Series. This also included the introduction of Giti's 'Girl's Only' racing team of all-female drivers, coach, and crew - the most succesful of its type ever.

Finally, in terms of helping the community, Giti has strongly reduced production waste and also taken a number of financial and service initiatives to support the environment. This includes a long-term partnership with Conservation International, as well as activities to help poor communities, improve water and forest areas, and develop education across regions and age groups.

Altogether, Giti’s focus on global support, high quality production and R&D, and strong brand and community focus has placed Giti on the road for more continued success in the years ahead.
